Companions have both a friendship and rivalry path. This is not the same Ganador approval and disapproval as Hawke does not gain points based on how pleasant or rude they are. Instead, it's based on PC actions, opinions, and how they handle each companion's personal quest.

Execution – You must go to Lowtown during the night to meet with a contact, Anso. He will direct you towards a house in the Alienage which he would like you to contact me investigate and retrieve some items from for him. Whne you get to the house you will be attacked. Kill your assailants and search the chest shown on your map. You will find it is empty and agree amongst your party to return to Anso and tell him. Before you get very far you will be attacked again and realise this is a setup.
